How we work, and why

There are many places to buy a handmade carpet. This is meant to be something smaller and more focused: a few pieces at a time, each studied deeply. Not a warehouse or a marketplace. We deal only in attributed work that the house can stand behind completely.

The story

Gereh & Naqsh started as a private collection, not a business. Over many years, we searched for handmade carpets of the highest rank. We never bought in bulk. We chose each piece individually for the quality of its weave, the skill of its maker, and the life in its design. We looked for pieces signed by recognized masters from Isfahan, Qom, and other historic centres. We wanted pieces with clear histories. Pieces truly worth living with.

Now, we are opening this collection to others who see what we see. A great carpet is not just a furnishing. It is a work of art, drawn by a designer, knotted by a weaver, and carrying the pride of the house that made it. We keep our collection small, and we are entirely transparent about every piece we show.

Verified provenance

We share everything we can document about a carpet. This includes the producer, the designer of the pattern, the materials and dyes, and the knot density. If certificates or notes from previous owners exist, we provide those too. We base our attributions on evidence. If we cannot verify a claim, we do not make it.

A note on the name

Gereh means the knot. Naqsh means the design. Persian carpet makers use these two words for the two arts that meet at the loom: the structural one of the weaver, the visionary one of the designer.
