A pair, a pictorial design in three panels. The largest is a Tree of Life set beneath a mihrab arch, the tree rising from the ground among birds and animals; the panel along the left is worked in the Gol o Bolbol, the flower and nightingale; and the panel across the top carries a goldani, a flowering vase. Naturally dyed, the main field is worked in fine silk against the wool ground and signed in Persian at the foot. From superior weaving to the choice of colours and the quality of materials; two pictorial carpets executed beautifully.

Mehdi Saeedi is among the few Isfahan producers of his generation who hold to natural dye without exception. He composes his own cartoons and describes his approach as sākhtār-shekani, a deliberate breaking with convention: he fuses the traditional and the modern within a single piece, and at times produces work that is fully contemporary. In 2022 Saeedi was honoured by the National Carpet Center of Iran as a finalist of the inaugural Qali-ye Fakher festival. His carpets carry a distinct character, recognisable to the trained eye by their colour and composition.
